A Fortune 500 Engineering Facility
This was a 1995 project that was the first phase of their building expansions. This mechanical system was designed by an outside consulting firm for public bid. Upon receiving the bid documents we noticed large discrepancies on actual usage vs. design. We approached this prospective customer and offered to make them a design-build "value engineering" proposal on bid day.
Our plan and specification bid was competitive with the other contractors. Our re-design, however, was approximately $200,000.00 lower than these other bids.
This project consisted of over 300 tons of air conditioning. In our re-design, we subdivided our HVAC areas to over 60 thermostatically controlled zones. This was done with the use of communication bus wiring and control panels. We can view and control these zones from our Canton office as well as the customer's office. All Thermostats are holding temperature within 2 degrees of set point.
The savings to the customer was $200,000.00 from our re-design over conventional bidders. We also provided 5 years of total maintenance on this project at no additional cost. This is an additional savings of $70,000.00 over 5 years.
The equipment installed has a S.E.E.R. rating of 11.0. This is among the highest efficiency ratings of similar equipment.
