A Nursing Home in Ohio
We designed and installed a water source heat pump project for the owner. The owner wanted to install a conventional residential furnace and condensing unit system. This was a 68-unit building, which would have had much of the HVAC system exposed outside.
We convinced the owner to spend an additional $80,000.00 to put our system into effect. We provided information that proved this additional money was a much wiser investment.
The savings to the customer resulted from 30% annual lower operating cost than the residential system. Maintenance costs would have been similar on both systems. Average life span of the equipment, however, is 15 years for the conventional equipment vs. 47 years for water source heat pumps. In addition, there is very little decrease in efficiency or servicing over time with water source heat pumps. This is in contrast to a linear increase in servicing, and a linear decrease in efficiency on the residential HVAC units.
