Company Compressor Re-build Stocking Program
For the past five years, Standard Plumbing & Heating has been able to provide savings in compressor repair.
In our initial meeting with a customer we were notified that the owner had a storage room of inoperable refrigerant compressors. These were all designated to be scrapped.
One of the common problems with belt driven compressors is shaft seal failure. We initiated a complete tear-down and inspection program of these compressors to determine the feasibility of repair. We determine that it made more sense to repair the compressors designated for scrap than to buy new compressors.
We have averaged over 10 compressor shaft and seal repairs a year. Our average repair cost is approximately $300.00 in contrast to a new compressor which costs over $1,000.00. We inventory these compressors for future use.
The five-year savings of 40 compressor re-builds are conservatively estimated at $28,000.00.
